Back-A-Kid
Our Dream
Growing up in today's world isn't easy for any child,
but for many kids in our community, it is tougher than
you may think. All young people struggle with making
friends and fitting in — but what if you also had to
worry about where your next meal was coming from or
how safe it was for you to go to school every day? At the
Boys & Girls Clubs of Yellowstone County, we dream
of a world where every child is given the opportunity to
succeed in life and experience a brighter future.
At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Yellowstone County, we help realize this dream by providing:
A Safe Place - for those who may be left alone after school or on the streets with no guidance. The Club is a safe place to play and a place safe enough to be yourself.
Life-Enhancing Skills - that can open young minds. The Club exposes youth to new ideas and skills that prepare them for life. We teach the importance of character in all of our programs.
A Relationship with Caring, Trained Adults - the better the staff, the better the programs; the more children we can attract; the more likely they will build a relationship with a caring adult; the greater the opportunity our Club has to positively influence the character of a child.
Hope and Opportunity - as young people experience our Club, we become a place for hope. Hope leads to increased confidence and a brighter future.
Our dues are low ($10 per school year and $30 for summer program) so that all children can have access to our programs. Your financial investment helps us continue to improve our services to youth and welcome more children who need help each day. Your support helps us be their home away from home.
One Person
It just takes one person to help make our dreams and
the dreams of many children come true. It just takes
you. Your investment in Back-A-Kid will support
children at our three Clubhouses and help them build
a brighter tomorrow.
What We Do Works
Our three Clubs impact 3,400 members by using
proven principles refined by Boys & Girls Clubs of
America over the past 100 years. Based on emerging
research, we know that youth participating in quality
youth development organizations have been found
positively associated with:
- higher academic achievement and grades
- spending more time on homework
- lower problem behaviors
- optimism about the future
- lower suicide risk
- increased involvement in community service
Impact Through Stewardship
Knowing we have this kind of impact on youth
encourages us to continually improve the level of
service we offer to our 3,400 current members, and
to reach out to even more youth. In order to do this,
we must use community resources efficiently and
effectively. We accomplish this by partnering with
schools and using existing community-supported
facilities, which reduces our cost by half; devoting a
major portion of the budget directly to youth services;
reaching Clubhouse capacities; and fostering long-term
relationships between our staff and our kids.
